As Portlanders know, Alberta street is the focal point for local happenings, including cultural events of all kinds. At Alberta Greenhouse, we pay close attention to these events and make sure to participate in them for the betterment of our community. If you live in the area or are planning to visit, there are a few upcoming events you won’t want to miss:
The first of these events is also the one coming up soonest; the Alberta Street Sidewalk Sale takes place on September 10th and 11th. More than 20 Alberta Street businesses will participate, putting their wares out for sale at record low prices right on the sidewalk.
Participating businesses include apparel retailers such as Pie Footwear and Grayling Jewelry as well as bookstores like Green Bean Books. Red Sail will be selling jewelry, bags and wallets, and many other local businesses will be present as well. It’s the perfect time to go on a shopping trip and enjoy slashed prices on some of the area’s most popular goods!
Trick Or Treat Alberta Street
Halloween is coming right up, which means it’s nearly time for costumed children to trick-or-treat up and down Alberta Street. Held on Saturday, October 31st, from 3:30 to 6:00 PM, this event draws families to local businesses where every child in costume receives a special treat.
Alberta Street businesses that are participating all have Trick or Treat Alberta Street posters in prominent display, so be on the lookout for the distinctive posters throughout the area. Each business offers its own special treats, such as Green Bean Books which offers limited edition trick-or-treat bags to the first 500 children who show up.
Lit Up and Local
Lit Up and Local takes up the entire month of December, providing holiday joy to the neighborhood. On the 1st of December, The Station begins the festivities with the Get Lit event. On the 5th of December, a tree lighting ceremony and a visit from Santa gets the season in full gear.
For the week of December 12 – 20, residents and visitors can pick up a game card at a local Alberta store and start a scavenger hunt for carefully hidden gnomes. Once you’ve found all the gnomes, you can turn in your completed game card to enter a raffle and win prizes like a year’s supply of candy. Also, over 40 participating businesses offer deep discounts between 3:00 and 6:00 PM on Wednesdays as part of Retail Happy Hour.
